Mobile phones will not be suitable to access the training, a PC/laptop with a webcam is best, in a quiet and well lit space.
Workshop manuals will be sent to you in digital form the week before the training, along with a link to join the training.

Taster Session
This bespoke course gives you a brief introduction to Makaton, learing around 40 signs and symbols and it can be tailored to your setting.
Level 1
Level 1 is for anyone (no experience necessary). You will cover signs and symbols in stages 1 and 2 and some additional vocabulary (around 125 concepts), some background information, simple theory and practical activities to practise the skills learnt. The course takes around 6 hours (either 1 day or 2 shorter sessions). You will receive a manual that contains course materials, all the signs and symbols you will learn and a certificate.
Level 2
Level 2 is for people who have completed level 1. You will cover signs and symbols in stages 3 and 4 and more additional vocabulary (around 125 concepts), some more theory, consider how it may be implemented in your setting and take part in more practical activities to practise the skills learnt. The course takes around 6 hours (either 1 day or 2 shorter sessions). You will receive a manual that contains course materials, all the signs and symbols you will learn and a certificate.
Level 3
Level 3 is for people who have completed level 2, you will cover signs and symbols in stages 5 and 6 (around 100 concepts), some deeper theory, start to develop your translation and interpretation skills and tackle longer pieces of information and conversations. You will also analyse signs in more depth. The course takes around 7 hours (either 1 day or 2 shorter sessions). You will receive a manual that contains course materials, all the signs and symbols you will learn and a certificate.
Level 4
Level 4 is for people who have completed level 3, you will cover signs and symbols in stages 7 and 8 (around 100 concepts), continue to develop your translation and interpretation skills and adapting your communication. The course takes around 7 hours (either 1 day or 2 shorter sessions). You will receive a manual that contains course materials, all the signs and symbols you will learn and a certificate.
Refresher Sessions
These sessions are for people who need to refresh and practise their use of signs and symbols who have previously covered the information formally (as above). These are practical and interactive sessions and are not a substitute for official training.
Baby/Early Years Signing
Usually run as a 5 or 6 week course, you will learn and practise around 125 signs and symbols, songs, games and stories. You will also receive a book containing all the signs and symbols covered.
